Common questions answered!
Q1: How long will my project take and how much will it cost?
Every project has a different scope. Materials, site conditions, and design complexity all play a role in both the timeline and the budget. That’s exactly why we start with pre-construction. It gives us the time to work through the details together and land on numbers that actually reflect your project, not a guess. Once we’re aligned, you’ll have a clear picture of exactly what to expect before any work begins.
Q2: Should I hire a builder or an architect first?
Both are essential, and the earlier they’re working together the better. Our recommendation is to get your architect started on initial drawings first, then bring us on board shortly after. That way we can weigh in on constructability and budget while the design is still flexible before changes become expensive. Getting us involved early is one of the simplest ways to keep your project on track.
Q3: What is your fee structure?
We work on a cost-plus basis, and we prefer it that way. It means you see every invoice and know exactly where your money is going, with no markups hidden in a lump sum. Projects begin with an initial deposit, and from there we bill monthly based on completed work. It keeps things transparent and fair for everyone involved. That said, if a fixed lump sum works better for your situation, we’re open to that conversation too.
Q4: Can I still live in my home during the renovations?
For most interior projects, yes and we do our best to keep the site clean and the disruption manageable. For larger scopes like whole-home remodels or major structural work, it’s usually more comfortable to make other arrangements for part of the process. We’ll be upfront with you about what to expect before anything starts so you can plan accordingly.
Q5: How do I get in contact with my project manager?
Call, text or email me directly. When you work with NestCraft Builders, you’re working with me and I’m reachable throughout your project. Depending on the scope of your build, there may also be a dedicated site supervisor on the ground day to day. Either way, you’ll receive weekly updates so you’re never left in the dark, and if something comes up in between, reach out and you’ll hear back from the person actually running your job.
